BMW Invites You to Become an Electronaut
Published Friday, 30 September, 2011 by Blog Admin. Categories: New Inventory, Green.
BMW has created a new electric vehicle named ActiveE. What they're hoping, however, is to create is something bigger than just electric. As such the Bavarian automaker has launched a brand new campaign, which encourages drivers to become "electronauts".
Like astronauts explored outer space, electronauts are land explorers and adventurers. And, ultimately, they're expected to help BMW determine how their distinctive Active E electric vehicle and EV technology is able to connect drivers to the future of urban mobility. As stated by BMW, an electronaut, is a "surveyor of the present, and a proponent of the future - the future of mobility."1
In total, BMW is seeking 700 electronauts to help them gather data, and complete the experiment. Places will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you're interested, all you have to do is complete four simple steps.
- Fill out the BMW ActiveE reservation form on www.bmwusa.com/activee.
- Cooperate in a charging station consultation with BMW partner, AeroVironment.
- Enter a closed-end, two-year lease agreement at a participating BMW dealership and
- Finalize your ActiveE charging station installation.
While the registration is free, the consultation comes with a $100 visitation fee. That, however, can, and will be, credited toward the cost of installing the charging station. The lease agreement requires a $2,250 down payment and monthly payment of $499. There will be $0 maintenance fees.
One benefit is that you'll be part of an elite group of BMW drivers, working collectively toward a better future. BMW electronauts will be expected to provide regular feedback on the car to BMW staff and share details on their driving and charging habits.
